New Review – Intercity Berlin Airport Hotel (BER)

Berlin Airport has a few airport hotels, but only two are truly within walking distance: the Steigenberger Airport Hotel(👉 Review here) and the IntercityHotel Berlin Airport. That’s exactly why I decided to spend one night at the IntercityHotel – to see how it compares.

📍 Location

As mentioned, the location is top-notch. The IntercityHotel is just a few minutes’ walk from the terminal, right next to the Steigenberger. This is no coincidence, as both hotels belong to the same hotel group. For those who prioritize short walking distances, that’s already a big win. ✅

🛎️ Check-in

I wasn’t completely thrilled with the check-in process. Although I had already checked in online, I was directed to an automated kiosk – which didn’t work ❌. A staff member helped me out, but I still had to fill everything out manually. A bit inconvenient, especially if you’re arriving late or need to head out early.

🛏️ Room

The room was a bit smaller than the one at Steigenberger, but it had a fresh and functional vibe ✨.

The bathroom, located on the left as you enter, features a walk-in shower 🚿. What I liked: The sink had ample counter space, and the shampoo & shower gel were available in eco-friendly dispensers🌱.

In the entryway: luggage rack, a small (empty) fridge, and complimentary water 💧.

I was particularly happy to find a coffee machine ☕ and a kettle provided free of charge. Even though I didn’t try the breakfast, I’m always thrilled to start the day with a good cup of coffee.

The bed takes up most of the room, as usual, but there’s also a chair and small desk. Not really ideal for work, but it’s there. 😉

🍽️ Amenities

In the lobby area, there’s a bar and a small restaurant 🍷🥗. Breakfast is also available – unfortunately, I couldn’t snap any photos, and I opted to head over to the Lufthansa Lounge at the terminal instead.

On the fifth floor: a small fitness center 🏋️‍♂️ and a sauna 🧖.

  • The sauna costs €15 extra and is open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • The fitness center is open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily – not bad for an airport hotel!

🧾 Check-out

I just wanted to quickly drop my key card off, but was kindly informed, in true Berlin style, that they needed to check if everything was paid for. A little odd, but it was in line with the check-in experience. 😅

✅ Final Thoughts

If the price is right and I have an early flight, I would definitely stay here again – not for the service, but for the incredible location 🛫.
It’s just a short walk to the terminal, the room was clean, quiet, and I slept well 😴.
For a quick night before your flight: perfectly functional and worth it!
