New Review – Swiss Business Class Amenity Kit (Senses Edition)

With the introduction of Swiss’ new A350 and the Senses board concept, the entire onboard experience was revamped – including the Business Class Amenity Kit (First Class review [here]). At a Swiss event, I learned more about it, and now I have one of these new kits in my hands. Here’s what I think.

📦 Contents

Base Kit:

• Toothbrush and toothpaste
• Socks
• Earplugs

What looks like very little at first glance is expanded through an almost inconspicuous note for on-request items. Swiss emphasizes sustainability, which I can understand. Other airlines like Singapore have been practicing this for a very long time. But let’s get back to what’s available on request:

On Request Items:

• Sleep mask
• Mouthwash
• Lip balm
• VIU microfiber cloth

I’ve thought a lot about the kit’s purpose. With the advertising and microfiber cloth for glasses, I think it’s meant for storing your (spare) glasses.

I simply can’t shake the feeling that this Business Class amenity kit was developed by people who don’t fly enough and just came up with something. When I think of the old sleep mask quality, Swiss missed a chance to create something really nice.

🎯 Verdict

I’m missing some clarity on what this amenity kit can be used for later. It’s a great attempt to implement the new Senses concept, but it’s not the big hit it could have been. A properly “round” solution would certainly have cost little more, but it’s just neither fish nor fowl.
