✈️ Lufthansa Senator Lounge Frankfurt (Schengen Area) – Honest Review & Insider Tips [2025]

The Lufthansa Senator Lounge in the Schengen area of Frankfurt Airport (FRA) is a familiar place for many frequent flyers. But it’s still worth taking a closer look—especially when you manage to visit during a quieter evening, as I recently did. This gave me the perfect opportunity to explore the lounge in peace and bring you this honest, first-hand review.

📍 Location & Access

The Senator Lounge is located in Terminal 1, Area A, just after the Duty-Free area, heading toward Gates A50.

Opening hours:
🕔 Daily from 5:00 AM to 10:00 PM
That’s longer than the Lufthansa First Class Lounge, which closes at 9:30 PM.
🔍 Tip: Always check the current hours directly on the Lufthansa website before your flight.

Access is granted to:

  • ✅ Star Alliance Gold members
  • ✅ Travelers with a Business Class ticket (on any Star Alliance flight)
  • ✅ Holders of an American Express Platinum Card (when flying with a Star Alliance airline)

💡 Note: If you’re flying Singapore Airlines First Class, this is the only lounge available to you in the Schengen area—it officially counts as the Star Alliance First Class Lounge here.

🍽️ Amenities & Offerings

Upon entering the lounge, you’ll find a service desk on the left, where the lounge staff can assist you with ticket inquiries. You’ll also find a selection of newspapers and magazines here.

Right next to it begins the self-service food and drink area, which includes:

  • soft drink station (not for everyone, but convenient)
  • A range of alcoholic beverages, including sparkling wine and German beer
  • Hot dishes that change daily
  • central salad bar
  • Soup and various small snacks

📸 I’ll let the pictures do most of the talking for this section—you’ll see what I mean.

🛋️ Seating & Space

The back of the lounge features plenty of seating—some areas are separated by partitions, offering a bit of privacy. That’s definitely helpful, because the lounge tends to be quite crowded during the day. However, in the evening or off-peak hours, you can enjoy a much more relaxed atmosphere.

🔌 Power outlets? Yes—plenty! Unless your neighbor is charging five devices at once, you’ll almost always find a free socket. 😉

💼 Workstations? Yep, clearly visible in the photos below—ideal for business travelers needing to get things done.

🚿 Additional Features

  • Showers and clean restrooms – a huge plus in my book
  • Phone booths – located on the right side after the entrance; sadly, they’re rarely used
  • darkened quiet zone – ideal for resting, although it’s not always as quiet as it should be

✅ Final Verdict

I’ve known the Senator Lounge at Frankfurt for many years, and I’m still satisfied with what it offers. The food selection is decent, the seating is comfortable, and the overall experience is solid—especially during non-peak hours. Like many popular lounges, the biggest downside is overcrowding at peak times—but that’s the price you pay for access to one of the most popular lounges at Europe’s busiest Star Alliance hub.
